Kobe Bryant was a well known professional basketball player mostly called “Black Mamba” by fans. He entered the NBA when he left high school and played in the league for a 20-season professional career. Bryant is a very successful player and has earned several awards as a professional basketball player. He has eighteen-time All-Star, Fifteen-time All-NBA Team, five NBA championship, and 12-time member of the All-Defensive Team. Additionally, Kobe won the NBA’s most valuable player in 2008 and has also won the NBA Finals MVP twice. He is one of the greatest players of all time.

In the history of the league, Bryant is the youngest player to reach 30,000 career points at just 34 years old. He is also the first guard in the history of the NBA to play 20 seasons. Childhood

Kobe Bean Bryant was born on the 23rd of August, 1978 in Philadelphia to Pamela Cox Bryant and Joe Bryant, a former NBA player. He was raised in a catholic home and continued to practice his faith until he passed away. He grew up with his two sisters, Shaya and Sharia. As a child, Kobe loved playing basketball and his favorite team was the Lakers.

His father retired from the NBA when Kobe was just six years old. After his retirement, the family moved to Italy and he continued playing but at a lower level. The family moved around a lot, some of the places they lived are Reggio Calabria, Pistoia, and Reggio Emilia. While they were in Reggio Emilia, he began to take football more seriously. Personal Life

When Kobe Bryant was just 21 years old, he met Vanessa Laine who was 17 at that time. They dated and got engaged after six months. Vanessa was still attending high school then and she had to finish high school to avoid media attention. They got married on the 18th of April, 2001 in a catholic church in California. The basketball player did not attend the wedding as they did not want him to get married at a young age and to a woman who is not African-American. There was no relationship with his family for almost two years until the couple welcomed their first daughter in 2003.

Vanessa got pregnant in 2005 but lost it due to an ectopic pregnancy.  The following year, they had their second child, Gianna Maria-Onore. In 2011, Vanessa filed for divorce and both of them requested joint custody of their daughters. However, Vanessa and Kobe announced that their divorce has been called off on the 11th of January, 2013. They had another child in 2016 and another girl in June 2019.

Death

On the 26th of January, 2020, Kobe Bryant lost his life in a helicopter crash with eight other people. He was going to Camarillo Airport for a basketball game in thousand oaks’ at Bryant’s Mamba Academy. He was with his 13-years-old daughter, Gigi, seven family friends, and a daughter. The news of his death was shocking for people everywhere.

According to reports, the helicopter experienced fog and the pilot turned towards the mountains. The helicopter crashed the side of the mountain and it caught fire. Kobe Bryant died as a result of force blunt trauma.

He was buried with his daughter on the 7th of February at a private funeral in California. Days later, there was a public memorial at Staples Center, Los Angeles.
